Club Maeva Tulum

At this time, we would like to share the status regarding Club Maeva Tulum as a result of hurricane Emily.
As you may know, all hotel guests were taken to a shelter located in Chetumal (south from Tulum). Passengers were returned to Cancun after the storm and with the assistance of your local representatives, were protected at other properties in Cancun proper. (Apple guests still at destination are presently staying at Riu Cancun & Riu Las Americas)
Currently the hotel has no electricity, phone service nor cell phone access. Local authorities expect to have these issues corrected in the next several days.
Overall, the hotel is in very good shape. As expected, we have a lot of cleaning to do, landscaping work as well as repairs to approximately 12 guests rooms with broken windows.
Our gym will be relocated to a temporary location in order to conduct repair work to this facility; however, gym service will be available.
Sauna facility will be out of service for the next 2-4 weeks.
Our beach palapa restaurant was damaged by the storm. This restaurant will be temporally closed. This facility will be fully operational within the next 3-4 weeks. Our management team will set up a temporary/alternate restaurant while the beach restaurant is under renovation in order to maintain original food and beverage offering. We will keep you posted with progress report.
On the positive side, Emily dumped tons of new sand to our beach. As you may know, Club Maeva Tulum beach area is known as one of the most beautiful sites in the Riviera Maya. This is due to the physical shape of the beach itself and the natural coral reef located just in front of the hotel. Today, our beach area is even nicer, wider and with plenty of white powdery sand!
For your information, Club Maeva Tulum will be re-opening by next Thursday, July 28, 2005. We expect the property to be at a minimum 90% operational with only a couple of issues pending, such as our beach restaurant and sauna facility.
Our management team is working very hard to bring this resort back to normal so we can continue offering it to our mutual customers !!

· Royal Hideaway Playacar: Open and operational, with the exception of The Grill/Snack Bar and Spices until further notice.
· Allegro Playa car: Will remain closed until October 1st, 2005.
· Occidental Grand Xcaret: Will remain closed until October 15th, 2005.
· Occidental Grand Cozumel: Will remain closed until August 5th, 2005.

Hilton Cancun Beach & Golf Resort

The Hilton Cancun Beach & Golf Resort is open for business, and all guests are safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Emily, whose eye was 100 miles from Cancun in the Yucatan Peninsula during the early hours of July 18. The Cancun Airport opened at 9:00 a.m.on Monday, July 18.
“We remained fully operational throughout the hurricane. We expect to return to normal operations by Thursday, July 21, when all of the debris will be cleaned up,” said Dave Smith, General Manager, Hilton Cancun Beach & Golf Resort. Cancellation penalties will be waived through Thursday, July 21.
“We have received many favorable comments from guests, who spent Sunday night in our Caesar Ballroom. The hotel never lost electrical power, cell phone signals remained operational, and the land phone lines were only down for a few hours. There was no major structural damage to the resort. We did not charge guests for their Sunday night stay (July 17), and we offered a reduced rate for Monday, July 18, for those who were unable to depart due to cancelled flights,” said Sergio Serra, Director of Sales & Marketing, Hilton Cancun Beach & Golf Resort.

Open and fully operational
Riu Hotels & Resorts reports that Hurricane Emily spared their properties in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The resorts, which maintained power and services throughout the severe weather, received little damage. Riu resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen are open and fully operational. The first new clients after the hurricane began to arrive to the resorts today, Wednesday.
“The most important thing is the safety of our guests and employees. Being prepared makes all the difference,” stated Miguel Violan, communications manager for Riu Hotels & Resorts. Developed and implemented in 1996, Riu Hotels & Resorts has a Hurricane Preparedness Manual and Team at each resort.
The damage at Riu resorts was limited to broken tree branches, debris in the pools, damage to the gardens and surrounding vegetation, and broken windows. For the last 36 hours, a special brigade has been focused on cleaning the grounds and repairing the damage.

Fiesta Hotels & Palladium Resorts

As of last night, the house count was approximately 300 guests “in-house” and we have power, air/conditioning and running water. Power for the complex is from our own generating plant, The water is from our own on-site filtration plant.
Update on the Grand Palladium Kantenah/Grand Palladium Colonial is as follows:
Colonial lobby is 35% damaged:
· All the debris has already been cleaned up and removed;
· The front desk is closed, temporary reception is set up next to the office.
Kantenah lobby is 65% damaged:
· Front desk is closed until the new thatched palapa roof is completed;
· Hemingways and Churchill bars, although not damaged, will remain closed until the lobby is open (both bars are located off the Kantenah lobby);
· Lobby bar will remain closed until the roof is replaced.
All villas and rooms are in perfect condition with the exception of the thatched roof on the Mayan Suites - which need to have some “hairdressing” done, nothing major.
· Colonial Lobby Bar is open.
· La Hacienda air-conditioned buffet restaurant is open (Colonial).
· Tikal air-conditioned buffet restaurant (Kantenah) is closed (due to low house count).
· Gran Azul outdoor buffet suffered some damage to roof thatch and needs work; should be ready for operation tomorrow.
· Gran Azul will host the nightly shows until such time as the thatched palapa roof can be replaced, which will take some time.
· Shopping center is open today.
· Internet lounge is open today.
· Logo Shop is open today.
· Spa is open today.
· Gym opens tomorrow.
· El Ranchito kids club open today.
· Beach bars open today.
· Water sports center opens today.
· Beach between kids club and water is cleaned and open today.
· Beach, in general, is in perfect condition; we plan to have 80 +/- workers there today to clean the entire beach.
· Spa pool will open tomorrow as will Spa pool bar.
· Adults’ pool will open tomorrow as will Adults’ pool bar.
· Main pool is closed and will be emptied by today; the plan is to have it reopened by this weekend (Sunday).
· Most of the numerous palapas along the beach, pool deck areas are gone, will replace with cloth umbrellas as beast as possible until the new palapas are installed.
· Many of the palm trees are down and will need to be removed and replaced; there is noticeable damage to all the trees around the grounds of the resort.
· There is a lot of damage to the general vegetation, gardens and jungle areas on the hotel grounds that will require a lot of thinning and cleaning out; this will take a few weeks to complete.
· Some of the “eco-walks” thru the natural vegetation are not usable; this will take some time to replace.
We have a significant number of workers already on site with the clean-up operation. All needed materials are on site, as they were already needed for the current work being done on the Grand Palladium White Sand and Grand Palladium Riviera. www.fiestahotelgroup.com
Barcelo Maya Beach Resort

As you know, we are facing many challenges. One of them is the lack of telephone lines in the Riviera Maya. Our team is doing a great job; every single employee at the hotel is helping to get the property back to normal.
§ The hotel is operational.
§ Present occupancy is 65%.
§ We do have 200 rooms closed with minor damages, basically broken windows and/or doors. Every day, more of those rooms will be back to inventory; for tomorrow, the GM expects to have 40 more rooms back.
§ The resort has full electrical power.
§ Front desks are fully operational.
§ Lobby is fully operational.
§ Air-conditioning in the rooms is fully operational.
§ Hot and cold water are available in all rooms.
§ Room service is working normally.
§ Buffets are working full capacity, now opening from 7:00 a.m. to midnight.
§ Restaurants a la carte are at full capacity; right now air conditioning is not working. The GM believes by tomorrow, Thursday, at the latest, the air conditioning should be working; in the meantime, both restaurants are accepting reservations as usual.
§ Swimming pool at Maya Caribe is working in perfect condition. Wet bar at this pool will open tomorrow. Swimming pool at the Maya Beach is closed until further notice (basically still dirty and needs proper cleaning; we will advise when it is open).
§ Grill at the Maya Caribe will open in one week (working on the “palapa”). The grill at the Maya Beach, the GM believes, will be fully operational in one month.
§ Some roofs have been damaged; rooms under those roofs are closed. Some ceilings in the corridors and in the theater have some damage and are being worked on.
§ Palapa to get the towels closed; service available at the Kid’s Club.
§ Kid’s Club and kids area are fully operational.
§ Water sports center will be back to business in two days.
§ Gym fully operational.
§ Day and night activities are working.
§ Tennis courts are fully operational.
§ Golf (putting green) is open.
§ Theater is fully operational.
§ Telephone lines – they believe it will take one to three days to get the lines back to the hotel. Internal phone system works properly.
§ Business Center is closed, no e-mail is available; the center should be back to normal in one to three days.
§ Shops at the hotel are fully operational, as well as guest services, Vacaciones Barcelo and reps services for the guests.
§ Gardens and walkways are clean. Many palm trees and other trees were damaged by the strong winds, but at least all areas are clean, with some exceptions. The situation is being addressed.
§ The beach is perfectly clean; all chairs are available for customers on the beach as usual.
§ Showers at the beach working properly.
§ Customers, until further notice, are getting lobster in the buffets every day, along with Premium liquors at no additional charge.
During my site inspection, I was able to see the hotel operating properly (with the limitations described above), so if customers are properly advised, I believe they can enjoy their stay.
Crown Paradise

All of our restaurants and bars are fully operational in the hotel with the exception of the restaurant Fifties that will remain closed until further notice. We have done the appropriate cleaning and fixing of any small damages to those areas, and the guests are enjoying all those areas. The beach is hard to tell about any damage as the water level is still risen. We will have to wait for the water level to fall back before advising of the condition of our beach.
Casa Mexicana Cozumel

Dear Friends,
Hurricane Emily has come and gone. Tourists and locals alike are helping to
clean up, and move on.
Casa Mexicana Cozumel is standing proud. The management and staff along
side many of our guests, prepared for, braved the hurricane and readied
ourselves for the aftermath. Casa Mexicana remained fully intact, with very
minor tribulations. Casa Mexicana retained electricity throughout the
ordeal due to an in house generator. City provided electricity was restored
to Casa Mexicana less than 13 hours after the storm. Our water system also
remained unscathed. Our kitchen provided our guests and staff members with
meals that certainly exceeded all our expectations.
Today, Casa Mexicana is fully operational. Accepting reservations starting
Monday July 25th, 2005, it is our hope that Casa Mexicana Cozumel and the
island of Cozumel can put Emily behind them, and move on.
Iberostar Resorts

Effective tomorrow, July 22, 2005, Iberostar Hotels will be accepting arrivals to the Paraiso Complex.
Please inform our mutual customers the following:
PARAISO BEACH/DEL MAR:
· 100% operational
· Beach is clean but ocean is not swim-able, seaweed and jelly fish
PARAISO LINDO/MAYA:
· 90% operational
· Tex-Mex & Oriental Restaurants closed for 2 months (this will be substituted by an international a la carte restaurant setup in our Convention Center)
· Beach is clean but ocean is not swim-able, seaweed and jelly fish
TUCAN/QUETZAL:
· 95% operational
· Tennis Courts closed for a month
· Theater closed, but shows are being performed at the Convention Center

Please advice all guest arriving tomorrow that at the time of their check in they will be required to sign a letter of release otherwise we will not accept them on property and will not refund any monies. For clients arriving from July 23, 2005 and onwards, it is imperative that they are notified prior their arrival of all mentioned above; and at the hotel we will give them a letter notifying them as well.
